Rosa Lee Mccauley Parks

On December 1, 1955, Rosa Lee Parks (nee McCauley; innate(p) 1913) refused to relinquish her seat to a white passenger on a racially segregated Montgomery, Alabama bus. She was arrested and fined but her run led to a successful boycott of the Montgomery buses by African American riders.

Born Rosa McCauley in Tuskegee, Alabama, on February 4, 1913, the young girl did not seem destined for fame. Her buzz off was a teacher and her father, a carpenter.
