When Knowledge Isnt the Answer
The young are stronger, exactly the elderly more clever. The older an animal or benignant gets, the more abilities they possess. These abilities are gained mostly through experience. A someone can spend years in a classroom studying various subjects, but until they actually use that association or skills learned, and experience in the field, the knowledge behind them is useless. Animals look at one main advantage: their instinct, one quality that no book or loved one can teach. In Jack Londons To Build A Fire a traveller is making his way through the Yukon on a seriously cold day, and the consequence is expectantly tragic but a deeper indication can be discerned from this symbolic tale: a mans use of intelligence makes him superior above other animals, it is his withdraw from to instinct that at times makes him inferior. This is the difference between biography and death.
London presents the main character of the story exclusively unaffectionate by an environment of frigid weather, a newcomer to Yukon, Alaska who finds himself completely unaware of his surroundings. The only world the man is actually prone to, is the world he has created for himself. Anything that the man and his dog come into finish up with creates an expectation for disaster in the story.




The protagonist starts out on an ominous and oppressively cold morning. He is an inexperienced traveller to the unforgiving region. An old timer has warned him that the weather is unsuitable for traveling alone. The traveler, due to arrogance and the prospect of finding timber, has chosen to force out the warning. Accompanied by his dog, a native husky, the traveler is primed(p) to make it to the next campsite by days end.
